Priscilla Isabel WARDLE born 1885 Ballarat, died 1967 aged 82 at Heidelberg d/o Henry Thomas WARDLE and Isabella ALLEN - WW1 nursing sister who is memorialised on the Ballarat Hospital Honour Board and in the Avenue of Honour, Tree No 958. Her brother, Robert Norman WARDLE, has Tree No 2930. Priscilla's nurse diary has been transcribed by Bob Sleeman of Wagga, NSW, whose wife Kay is a grand daughter of Priscilla. The transcription of the diary and images of the original pages have been offered to the Ballarat & District Genealogical Society for electronic publication on our website. Memorabilia belonging to Priscilla (aka Pearl) such as her original Ballarat Hospital Qualification from 1908, leather bound with gold embossing and seal, a presentation case with medals and lots of photos etc. have been assembled for sharing, perhaps with the museum at the hospital. Her family homes, "Waverley" and "Rheola" still stand at 215 and 16 Dawson street respectively.
Trina Jones, President of the Ballarat Base Hospital Trained Nurses League, said that the Arch of Victory/Avenue of Honour, Ballarat, in conjunction with the Ballarat Base Hospital Trained Nurses League, organised a commemorative service to honour, in particular, the nurses in the Avenue and also others who served in WW11 etc.
This service was held on Sunday 16th Feb 2020 at the Arch of Victory.
